By Shinju Oe

A/N: To the public, I henceforth notify you that I am sleepy. Ja! :3

NIGHTLY OUTINGS

It was a peaceful night – the type of night one would want to just relax, walk and feel the breeze…until Fallon crossed the border to the men’s dormitory.  She’s doing her daily routine, an hour of jogging before going home and studying when she spotted two men outside the building that sounded like they’re speaking in tongues.  Fallon slowed down and observes.  What the hell…

She could identify the other one as Abaven Shahe – despicable stalker extraordinaire in her list.  But the other one…  She slowly walked towards the two men cautious of her distance.  Isn’t that…the heartbreaker that looks a bit like Abaven…but just a lil meaner and darker?  Her brows furrowed trying to remember the name.  What are these two up to now…

“Hey, I saw you checking her out earlier, Zilch.”  Abaven accused.  He strut towards the other tall guy.  He is wearing his trench coat over formal dress shirt and khaki slacks having to find the boy crossing the area towards the school buildings after his meeting with a drug dealer from outside Hades.  He took the opportunity to confront him without changing into much comfy clothes.  His schedule is busy in the coming days after all.  “What’s with that, huh?”

Xenon raised a brow.   “Are you high?  Coz I’m not taking crap from a metrosexual.”  He rolled his eyes and began turning back when he found a hand on his shoulder.

“I’m serious.” Abaven warned.  He can't take the fact that a 'goth dude' dares to drool after HIS Fallon.  “Don’t stare at her.”

Xenon finally sighed and slapped the hand away.  “Hey.”  He turned to face Abaven Shahe who, in some freakish law of nature looks like him...  He noted Abaven’s streamline clothes…  Well…almost...thank the gods!  This guy is accusing him of checking out Fallon Altair, a senior Alter who happens to be one of the racers a few weeks ago when he decided to check the illegal race tracks outside Hades.  He’s not really interested in Shahe’s woman like what the idiot is implying.  The fact that the girl who is a top-notch student and athlete joins illegal races really piques his interest.  So, like any curios person…he wanted to know something about the girl…car preferences for example.  “I’m not interested in Fallon Altair…”  He grinned when he said, “Maybe in some ways…but not in the way you’re referring to.  I’m not competition, okay?”

Abaven’s eyes bulged at the statement.  “In some ways?!  Now what does that mean?  She’s not good enough for the likes of you?”  He threw his arms in the air dramatically.  “Fallon’s a wonderful woman.”

Xenon’s eyes turned to slits.  “I didn’t mean it that way.”  He might get caught breaking women's hearts but not insulting them like what this guy is accusing him of.

“And what do you mean by, ‘I’m not interested in Fallon’ huh?”  Abaven stood tall and crossed his arms in front of him.  He saw the boy staring at Fallon as clear as daylight.  He was checking her out!!!  Sports bra and all!!!

“I mean what I said.”  Xenon simply answered as he scratched his head.  “You’re a difficult one, Shahe…  I’m not checking your girl out.  I’m just intrigued…”  He whispered the last part.  “…about her nightlife.”

To this, Abaven’s demeanor changed immediately.  He leaned closer.  “About what?”  He too, whispered – curiosity eating him.

Xenon took a step forward and said, “Her nightly outings…”

Abaven gasped.  “NOooooo…  She’s not that type of girl!”  He said unbelievingly.  “What nightly outings?”

Xenon stared at Abaven sheepishly.  “And you call yourself her stalker?”  He shook his head and put an arm around the other guy’s shoulders and whispered.  “I saw her outside Hades with a couple of guys…”  He stopped and looked around.  “I don’t know if you can feel it…but I think she’s near…and listening this…very…moment.  I don’t think it’s wise to…”  They both froze when a bush rustled.

“Wise to what?”

Abaven knows that voice very well.  “We forgot she has exceptional senses…”  He whispered to the other guy as they both slowly stood straight and unlatched their arms.  “Hi, Fallon.  What a great night, huh?”

“Forgot?  I didn’t know she has them…”  Xenon mumbled a bit embarrassed being caught by the very girl they’re gossiping about.   Great!  A few minutes with this gallivanting Casanova and I’m gossiping like an old lady!  Damn it!  He mentally kicked himself for starting the little chitchat.

Fallon stared at them both, mainly at Xenon.  She has never really taken time to research on his background.  She never was the snooping type and prefers to leave things alone but rumors around the campus can be heard even by her.  Xenon Zilch…  She found out that any girl who falls in love with him will die if he doesn’t break their hearts.  Strange…  She suddenly wishes she has that ability while turning to look at Abaven who is smiling like a lovesick puppy.  I sure do wanna get rid of him…    “What are you up to, Shahe?”

“Nothing!”  Abaven exclaimed and patted Xenon.  “We were just having a nice…evening chat.  Right, Zilch?”
Xenon automatically nodded.

Fallon knew there is something going on especially when she heard her name in sentences with the words ‘nightly outings’ in them.  “I heard most of it so spill before I get mad.”  She commanded and stared at both men.  “I have the right to know…I heard my name.”  Both guys are silent all of a sudden.  “Oh-kay…  Fine.”  She turned and was about to leave when…

“We were talking about your nightly outings.”  Abaven spilled.  “Right, Zilch?”

Xenon smacked his face with his hand.  IDIOT!  That did not sound right.  He tried to leave but a barrier prevented him.  “Yeah.”  Before he could say another word…

“I don’t mind, Fallon.”  Abaven beamed opening his arms to her.  “Besides, I did date a lot of girls before…so it’s fine if you prefer to select and collect first before we do it seriously…  You know what they say…practice makes perfect!”

Honestly…is this really the Casanova I’m hearing about?!  Xenon stared at Abaven’s pathetic face and Fallon’s slowly rising aura.  He observed them for a moment.  Obviously, Shahe is damn in love with Altair…  But Altair despises him…  He knows that fact…  Yet he pursues…  Xenon shook his head.  I don’t wanna think about it…it’s too confusing…

“What the hell are you talking about?!”  Fallon turned to glare at Xenon.  She’s now a few steps closer to them.  “Did you tell him something?”

Xenon shook his head.

“Then why is he blabbering nonsense?”  Fallon asked as she pointed at Abaven.

“I was trying to explaiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnn!!!” Abaven tried to reach out but was immediately hit by Fallon straight to the jaw.  He flew a kilometer away.

“Don’t talk to him…  He’s demented.”  Fallon gave Xenon a warning look.

“You do know he likes you…right?”  Xenon asked.

Fallon snorted and smiled mockingly to the direction where Abaven was thrown to.  “He says so…  Why are you asking?”

Xenon shrugged.  “I think it’s such a waste to deny him something you’re obviously allowed to give him.”

“Allowed?”  Fallon raised a brow at the word.  “It’s not like I’m not allowed…it’s more like I DO NOT LIKE HIM.” She chuckled a bit but stopped when she saw that the boy in front of her is not laughing.  She cleared her throat.  “Look…Abaven…he’s just…not my type…  If you’re his friend and you’re trying to tell me to try and go out with him, your efforts will be in vain.  I do not want to fall in love.  It is against my principles.”

Xenon frowned at this.  What a waste then…  He sighed.  “I see.”  He remembered there’s also another person tailing this girl in front of him…a certain Alter with long platinum locks, flamboyant fashion and a roguish grin.  And she chose to not fall in love despite the freedom to…  How ironic.  He smiled ruefully.  “I’m sure you have your reasons…”

Fallon simply nodded then started to leave.

“I know you race.”  Xenon called out softly.  “I saw you there last week.  Don’t worry, your secret’s safe with me.”  He assured.

Fallon did not turn back hearing the guy’s statement.  She knew Xenon was there in almost all the illegal races.  She actually appreciates the fact that she’s not alone in venturing outside the school’s perimeter.  She feels a little less guilty.  “Your secret’s safe with me too.”

TBC.  Hope you guys like this short one...
